Wastewater Gardens® in Poland In Poland the Wastewater Gardens® technology is implemented by the Carpathian Heritage Society and Natural Systems Inc. under the name Gardens for Clear Water (Ogrody dla Czystej Wody®). In cooperation with the Botanical Garden of Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland, the eco-technology was adopted to the climatic conditions of Eastern Europe. Among other things, a list of suitable plant species was created, that can be used in Eastern European and high altitude Wastewater Gardens®. The list includes 66 local decorative species, and 36 exotic species. A Polish trademark for Wastewater Gardens®, that illustrates how the system works, has been designed.
The efforts of the Carpathians Heritage Society to promote the Wastewater Gardens® system are supported by many organizations: Planetary Coral Reef Foundation (USA), Institute of Ecotechnics (U.K.), Sendzimir Foundation (Austria), and WWF International.Promotion of Wastewater Gardens® technology is also the main goal of a project run in cooperation with the Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow that was given the status of the European Centre of Excellence (project IBAES Nr EVK2-CT-2002-80009). In June 2002 the first Polish Wastewater Gardens® system was constructed in Magurski National Park. In June 2003 next Wastewater Garden has been built in Lutowiska commune in the far south-eastern part of Poland.
